Goat Milk Lotion, post 3
“You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.” --- Hebrews 1:9 Oils have been used throughout time, and are referenced many times over in the Bible. They are associated with joy, comfort, healing, and culinary delights.
So whether you are putting oil topically on your skin or ingesting herbal infused olive oil on a hot crusty piece of French bread you are bound to benefit. If you read lotion labels you will note that the choices of oils are numerous. I have chosen four in our Goat Milk Lotion because I loved their benefits and healing properties. The first we will look at is Jojoba oil.
This oil is very stable and does not become rancid even after long periods of storage. Jojoba oil assists in fighting dry skin, wrinkles and acne. It helps rejuvenate the skin and causes new cell growth. This oil is known to “trick” the skin into stopping production of sebum through mimicking sebum. Sebum is your skin's natural oil, and it keeps your skin soft. Jojoba oil is very similar to human skin oil. It is a non-greasy oil that fights dry skin as well as balances oily skin. Studies have proven the anti-bacterial properties of jojoba oil. Tests at the University of Michigan showed that 5 of the most common skin bacteria plus certain skin fungi couldn’t survive in jojoba oil. Some of these include: staphylococcus aureus, pseudomonas aeruginosus and the fungus candida albicans. The medicinal working of jojoba oil was studied in the pharmaceutical department at University of Port Elizabeth and found that jojoba oil DESTROYS the bacteria staphylococcus and pseudomonas within 1 hour and 15 minutes! Wow! Impressive! Jojoba oil is antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant that is easily absorbed by the skin. Jojoba oil contains many vital nutrients such as vitamin E, B complex vitamins, the minerals silicon, chromium, copper and zinc. It also has a great deal of iodine; this helps in fighting against bacterial and fungal infections. Overall the list could go on concerning this amazing, nourishing moisturizer. These however are just some of the benefits of this CHOICE oil! Join me next time as we move on to Extra Virgin Olive Oil!
